{"id":513,"date":"2018-05-19T02:05:16","date_gmt":"2018-05-19T02:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carlosgarciarobledo.org\/UCONN\/?p=513"},"modified":"2018-05-19T02:21:57","modified_gmt":"2018-05-19T02:21:57","slug":"nsf-dimensions-of-biodiversity-dream-team-meeting-in-santa-cruz-california","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carlosgarciarobledo.org\/UCONN\/index.php\/2018\/05\/19\/nsf-dimensions-of-biodiversity-dream-team-meeting-in-santa-cruz-california\/","title":{"rendered":"NSF Dimensions of Biodiversity &#8211; dream team meeting in Santa Cruz, California"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had a productive first meeting for our starting NSF Dimensions of Biodiversity project &#8220;<span class=\"pageheadline\"><strong>Biotic and abiotic drivers of Neotropical plant speciation&#8221;. <\/strong>This project, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeb.ucsc.edu\/faculty\/singleton.php?&amp;singleton=true&amp;cruz_id=kmkay\">Kathleen Kay<\/a> (UC-Santa Cruz), focuses on spiral gingers in the monocot genus <em>Costus<\/em> in Costa Rica and Panama. We will test different hypotheses on how biotic and abiotic interactions create and maintain diversity in the tropics. Our laboratory\u00a0 at UCONN will focus on many fascinating antagonistic plant-arthropod interactions affecting plant and insect fitness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our lab is so proud to join this dream team of researchers, postdocs and graduate students working on many topics from plant physiology to chemical ecology, animal interactions, phylogenetics and beyond.
