Ph.D. position available<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am accepting applications from prospective Ph.D students interested in the study of ecological and evolutionary processes in plant-arthropod interactions. I encourage student independence. As part of their training, I expect students to be highly motivated, develop original ideas, and apply to grants to fund their research program. I also expect students to develop excellent oral and written communication skills. Although I encourage independence, I also welcome collaborations when students\u2019 interests overlap with my current research program and study systems.<\/p>\n

Applicants should have a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Ecology or a related discipline. In addition to US  applicants, I am very interested<\/span> in training international students<\/span> who completed undergraduate degrees in their home countries. I expect applicants to be highly motivated, passionate about ecological and evolutionary concepts, and have a deep interest in developing strong written and verbal skills. A good fit with the culture in our laboratory are applicants interested in pursuing a career in academia. We encourage the application of candidates with proven research products such as publications, field experience and expertise in particular plant-arthropod systems.<\/p>\n

Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n

Funding for graduate students at EEB \u2013 University of Connecticut is excellent. Students are funded through teaching assistantships, research assistantships and several internal fellowships. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply to external funding sources.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t
